Kao Is Selected for Inclusion in the 2020 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index, Which Identifies Companies That Are Committed to Transparency in Gender Reporting and to Advancing Women’s Equality

Kao Corporation has once again been selected for inclusion in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which identifies companies that have demonstrated outstanding performance in the area of gender reporting and measures to advance gender equality, after having been included in the Index in 2019. In 2020, a total of 325 companies from 42 different countries and regions were chosen to be included in the GEI.

Kao Corporation has been recognized, for the third consecutive year, as a Supplier Engagement leader for its initiatives in reducing carbon emissions and tackling climate change across its supply chain by CDP, an international non-profit organization that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse emissions.

Highest Evaluation from CDP

Kao Corporation, a leading manufacturer of personal care, household and cosmetics products, has been selected for inclusion in the A List for climate change and water by CDP, a leading international NPO. This is a list of companies receiving the highest evaluation for taking proactive measures in relation to the environment, based on a global survey of business enterprises' response to climate change and their activities in relation to water security. The number of respondent companies in the survey was 8,361 for climate change and 2,435 for water security. This was the first time that Kao had been chosen for inclusion in the climate change A List, but the third time that Kao had been included in the water security A List, following on from 2016 and 2019.

Thirteen Year Kao Named

Once again, the Ethisphere Institute has named Kao to its annual list of the world's most ethical companies. Kao has been chosen every year since the Institute began compiling its list in 2007, making Kao a recipient of this recognition thirteen years in a row, the only Japanese company with this honor.

Supplier Engagement Leader by CDP

Kao Corporation has been recognized, for the second consecutive year, as a Supplier Engagement leader for its initiatives in reducing carbon emissions and tackling climate change across its supply chain by CDP, an international non-profit organization that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse emissions.
Kao released the Kao Environmental Statement in 2009 and announced a 35% carbon emission reduction across the product lifecycle compared to that of 2005, as one of its 2020 medium-term plan goals. By setting climate change countermeasures as one of the main themes in its ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) activities, Kao is promoting the activities for enrichment of people's daily life with zero environmental impact.

NEW ASPHALT ULTRA-THIN LAYER

TRASUTRA is a new surface treatment which consists in applying a special asphalt mixture (1cm thick after compaction).

This treatment doesn’t require the use of PmB and accepts a wide variety of aggregates.

This treatment remediates the degradation of old surface courses: corrects rutting, increases the coefficient of friction and reduces the international regularity index "IRI".

 

ADVANTAGES
ABOUT APPLICATION:
· It can be applied day or night.
· Immediate opening to traffic, 15-30 min.
· Thickness after compaction: 1 - 2 cm.
· Does not require special machinery.
· Compatible with RAP and crump rubber.
· Can be applied over concrete surfaces.

ABOUT PERFORMANCE:
· Corrects irregularities.
· Improves friction coefficient.
· Improves permanent deformation resistance.
· Improves the IRI (International Regularity Index).
· Reduces permeability so protects lower layers.
· Reduces tendency to cracking.
